Superpowers - Week 8

Assess the extent to which global concerns about the physical environment are disproportionately influenced by superpower actions. (12 marks)   firstly physical enviroment are disporpotionally influenced by superpowers due to their high meat consumption this leads to mass deforestation for cattle farming as seen in amazon rain forest in brazil, this than would lead to mass extinction of animals and loss of habitats and furthermore increasing the rate of climate change as less trees means less carbon being stored and absorved. secondly global concerns about physical enviroment are disporpotionally influenced by superpower action as normally superpower countries are the countries with one of the highest consumption of goods. this is further fueled by superpower exporting their goods from lic countries who are less concern about damaging physical enviromentas they think of money in short run instead of the enviroment itself

Week 7 carbon cycle hw due 14 Nov 2024

12 marker  Assess the impacts of changes to the Carbon cycle on the Arctic region??? One impact Changes to the carbon cycle such as humans burning fossil fuel therefore releasing carbon that was stored in long term storage ment that more carbon is in the atmosphere now than before, this led to a increase in global temperature leading to permafrost thawing which stores a bunch of carbon and organic material, the melting of permafrost means more carbon will be released to the atmosphere creating a circle of chaos. Another impact would be the increase in plant growth in artic as warmer temperatures means a longer growing season and due to more carbon in the atmosphere the vegetations will grow even faster and the carbon the trees absorb is minimal compared to the melting of artic releasing stored carbon. Othe impact of this would be the loss of biodiversity in artic as changes in temperature and habitat can lead to a decline or even extension of the animals living there.leading ...

Superpowers - Week 7

1) What is the difference between intellectual property rights and a patent? Intellectual property right is when creators have exclusive right to their assets e.g songs, how ever patents is when the inventor is the only one who can access it, use it or sell it on example of this would be medicine 2) What is TRIPS? The Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights 3) Why are TNCs so protective over IP and patents? It helps them get power over other competitors therefore earn more money  an example of this would be researchers descovering a new medicine that cures cancer.   4) How does IP apply to GM crops and pharmaceuticals? ibtellectual property might applt to gm as they might develop an engine that runs on water so there will only be one supplier of that type of product this means supernormal profits for gm and in pharmaceuticals if you spend money in developing a medicine you will be the only seller in the market that is allowed to make that product the...

Week 6 Carbon Cycle Homework Due WB 7th November 2024

Task 1: Adaptation is when you make changes to the way something works e.g climate change will mean large  places around the world will suffer from water droughts and therefore a adaptation to this would be to save more water also known as water conservation some benifits of this include less ectraction of ground water from aquafers and therefore less damage to the enviroment however some drawbacks include it not being effecient and conservative enough to supply high water demand when necessary e.g after a drought. other form of adaptation might include: land use planning flood management use of abnorman energy solar radiation management Mitigation is when you try to prevent the problem it self from happening in the first place or reverse the things done back to normal. One example of this would be the proper use of carbon taxation this would allow us to tax richer people more as the wealthier on the society are the one who use the most carbon this would mean a incentive to go car...

Superpowers answers!!!

Explain why defense spending is seen as crucial to the development of superpower status (4)   One reason why defense spending is seen as crutial to the development of superpower status because it allows the country to defend it self in conflict and furthermore it acts as a deterant for other countries who hight want to invade it. Another reason would be to threaten other countries with weaker military presense to obey their rules. Assess to what extent the superpowers’ rising demand for physical resources has led to both environmental and political challenges (12)  I fully agree that rising demand for physical resources such as oil has led to enviromental challanges such as oil leaks and water contimanations. For example in canada where vass area of land are deforester to get oil from the soil through extraction, this lead to massive water contimanation due to oil leaking ot surrounding rivers and aquafers and furthermore this lead to moving of indiginous people as their ...

globalisition answers

a level answers Globalisation Define global shift (1) Global shift is the movement of economic activity. Define the term TNC (1)  Transnational cooporation Suggest one reason why labour costs are significantly cheaper in Bangladesh (3)  one reason why labour cost are cheaper in Bangladesh is due to higher unemployment and unskilled workers this means there is more compitition for basic manifacturing jobs leading to a lower wage, furthermore the cost of living in bangladesh is lower therefore companies can get away with paying less to their workers. Explain two ways change in transport have accelerated globalisation (4) One way change is transport have accelerated globalisition is containerisation and massive ships, this allowed for very cheap form of transport from one place to another Another way changes in transport have accelerated globalisition is through air shipping, this ment important goods can be shipped from one continent to another continent in hours therefore it has ...
